Product Features & specs :

Dewalt DWE6423K 5 in. Variable Speed Random Orbital Sander with H&L Pad and Bag

The DWE6423 5 in. Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander Kit with hook & loop pad has a 3 Amp motor that delivers between 8,000 to 12,000 OPM. The separate counterweight reduces vibration and along with the rubber overmold grip provides comfortable sanding. A shorter design allows users to get closer to the work surface and the one-handed locking dust bag attaches securely to the sander to aid in dust collection or the user can attach the sander directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors.
  • 3.0 Amp motor spins the pad at 8,000 - 12,000 OPM
  • Shorter height allows the user to get as close as possible to work piece for sanding and more control
  • Rubber over-mold in all critical areas of the sander
  • Separate counterweight design reduces vibration, increases control and leads to a better finish
  • Improved dust-sealed switch to protect against dust ingestion for longer switch life
  • Improved dust collection and interfacing with vacuum locking system
  • Dust bag has patented one-hand locking mechanism
  • To attach dust port to other vacuum systems with 1-1/4 in. hoses, use DWV9000 Universal Quick Connector

I’m one who tries to always keep tools organized - whether at home or work. The plastic case (previous models), and VAC COMPATIBILITY would be pluses in my opinion.

Noisy Bearing?
The first time I turned it on it sounds like a noisy bearing, unless that's normal for this orbital sander. I've always had good luck with other Dewalt products in the past so I gave it a few stars for that. And it does do it's job as it should. Just leary about the whining bearing, especially when you put slight pressure on the forward edge of the pad. It would be 5-stars if I had the peace of mind of knowing it's ok.

Great little sander!
I've had this sander for over a year now and it has served me well! It is powerful and the adjustable speed is a nice feature for more delicate projects. The dust collection is pretty standard. I wish it came with an adapter that fit standard size shop vac hoses. Overall awesome little product!

Great product
I am a little disappointed as I did not know this unit needed a belt and that the belt would need to be replaced from time to time. and also to hook up to a vac you need an adapter if I knew I needed adapter to hook up to a vac I would have bought one when I got the unit but now I will have to go to the store again and see if it is available if not I will have to order it.I have other dewalt products and have had no problem with them..So hopefully this will do as well

Comfortable to Use
Recently purchased. Used on weathered cedar fence with 60 Grit sandpaper. The sander performed well and was a good weight to handle. I can't speak to the durability at this stage.

Awesome Sander
I've been doing my projects oldschool (by hand but I'm getting too old for that. My wife and kids decided to get me this DWE6423 Orbit Sander to make my life easier. I'm a disabled vet so I do take my time doing projects. I started using this tool and boy, it was awesome. I completed all the sanding work for the dining table I did in 4 hours(took breaks when needed). I know a lot of people can do it faster but for me, that was a record. I love my dewalt sander. I'll be buying more tools soon. I'm looking into the cordless tools now. I wish I took pictures but maybe next time.

If I want to attach this to a small Shop Vac hose, what adapters do I need? And if I want to attach it to a normal large Shop Vac hose, which ones do I need?
Brithedark on Nov 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: To connect to an external vacuum, you may need a reducer, but the answer depends on the diameter of the hose that you are connecting to. The same scenario applies to a larger vacuum.
I want to attach my Dewalt DWE6423K to my shop vac. The shop vac hose is 1.5" ID. Which adapter do I need?
