powerful & easy to use
finish seems excellent, even at faster feed rate. seems pretty easy to use. cutting gauge makes it easy to adjust depth.
love the power vacuum. This thing generates a LOT of chips in a short time. I have the vacuum ported directly to my wheeled waste container with framed furnace filter clamped on top to reduce dust - no noticeable dust in the garage (though I still wear a mask) and container is already half full with only two days of use.
didn't purchase auxillary tables because they looked kind of small to me. I spent some time setting up in-feed & out-feed tables (ripped from an old hollow-core door)and most times have no noticeable snipe
I'm pretty new to this, so not sure what to expect, machine doesn't bog down but can't seem to get it to accept more than about 1/16 inch cut on one pass - more than adequate for my purposes

Great Planer
I've had my planer for 3 years and have planed a good bit of wood, mostly red and white oak. I have not had any problems at all. Very little finish sanding required. Great Planer

Factory Reconditioned
I build furniture and miniatures my old planer went to wood heaven so after researching several models I decided on the DeWalt. This is a professional tool not for the the once in a while hobbyist.
After my fist day of use and making some adjustments I have smooth 180 grit surfaces. Great machine. I prefer Factor Reconditioned it always cost less then you can buy it on sale.

An excellent improvement
This product performs very well. Only problem I've experienced was an apparent flaw in the manufacturing process that prevents the accessory output table from tilting. I've managed to work around that but now find the output table will not remain in an upright position almost certainly because of the planer design. This is not a problem for me since I have the planer permanently mounted but it may be a problem for others. Other than that I can only speak highly of its performance.

blades dull quickly
The planner DW735 is an excellent piece of equipment. Well made with good quality. I love this planner - almost. The biggest problem is the planner knives, never can get more than 80 board feet planned before it is time for blade change. I have had this planner for about 5 year now, and have spent more than the cost of the planner just on blades. The blades are not cheap considering the life of the blades.

better than average small planer
As small planers go, this one is the best I have ever used and I have worn out a few. You can't remove material quite at the rate they advertise but as long as you keep your passes on the smaller side, it works fine.

I went to change the knives for the first time today. I would like to hang the moron that wound the screws in with an impact driver. The supplied wrench didn't last past the seventh screw (out of 24) before the corners started to round off. I had to back them out with an impact driver with a new tip and still had two strip out. That was disappointing, to say the least.

I wouldn't buy a reconditioned planer
The box[...] the planer in completely came apart befor it got to me. I thought that factor reconditioned were new pieces of equipment that had defects and were sent back for repairs. The planer I got had seen some hard use. The base table had been sanded using a orbital sander, I guess to try to cover up the two gouges running the length of the table. By the way this metal table had come completely off the planer base. Also the cutter head lock lever is missing. The planer is a great tool but your packing/shipping and reconditioining leaves a lot to be desired. I do not believe I will be ordering any heavy equipment new or reconditioned from your company in the future. My question to you is where can I get a replacement table(the piece that is glued on to the base)?

Powerful planer
This product is packed with power, easy to use, well designed, and my new favorite tool. I blasted through 20 board feet of 8/4 rough sawn hemlock. The slower feed rate feature creates a wonderful finish. I am looking forward to planing some hardwoods next.

a strong machine, well designed
I am doing a complete garage,24x32 in solid oak, some boards as large as 13" Every board has been grown on our property, sawed near by, and planed by this machine. It is an awesome project and the result is spectacular. I've gained a great respect for the machine!

A piece of Junk
The screws on the knives had to be removed at the warranty dealer's shop. The machine does not handle wide boards well. It does not feed well. It is underpowered even with small hardwood boards. I have had mine for three months and my old little two-knife that I have had for 6 years out performs my big new 735

What are the outside dimensions of the DW735X itself ? I would like to pass the tool through a basement window and won't unpack it if I have to move it through my house instead. At 92 pounds I'll leave all the packaging in place to protect it unless it will fit though the window.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
