Amazing!
I've used other planers, the DW735 is the best 120v planer on the market, nothing else even comes close. DeWalt outdid itself with this tool.

Glad I finally bought one!
Pulled it out of the box and started planing some left over 2X Cedar i had left over from a deck project. Works exactly as advertised.
Found it online for $100 less than retail at a local big box store.
Only a four star for durability as I have only had this for a week so a bit too early to tell. I have great confidence that it will run well for many years.

Really quite a good product - it deserves the reputation that it's earned. Super solid and well engineered, I cannot find shortcuts anywhere. Used to finish S4S mahogany for a wine cellar. The 2 speed function really showed a difference in the finish. The disposable knives knick easily - I started with S4S yet picked up something. It was micro-fine, but annoying after just a few board feet. With good support (i did not buy the extension tables), outbound snipe was non-existent. Tons of wholesale power, even when I tried to bog it down- yet consistent cuts (good results and long tool life = smaller cuts). This was a worthwhile investment in the shop.

DON'T plane hardwood!!!! And it aint crazy about pine either.
Bought this @Lowe's, with extended warrantee. Don't plane often-right? did a 10' board of cherry, fine cut, numerous passes, 2nd time using it. Popped circuit sw. on motor. Ok, let cool, reset. 2 passes later (1/32") pops again-wont reset and is dead. $500+ boat anchor.

This tool works great. Easy to use. Looks like it would work for years to come. Compact able to move by yourself if you can lift around 90 pounds. Like that you can set how thick you want your board to be so you don't mess up and go to thin.

Awesome planer
I've waited a long time to finally buy a planer. After using this planer in another shop I knew this was the one I wanted. Completely satisfied with the quality and performance of this tool. Must have the optional in-feed and out-feed shelves and the stand is a must have too (in my opinion). I like the fact that this planer will accept a genuine Byrd Shelix cutting head. They cost as much as the planer but definitely my next purchase. A high quality tool with superior performance.

Does it handle hardwood?
A shopper on Jun 11, 2018
What are the outside dimensions of the DW735X itself ? I would like to pass the tool through a basement window and won't unpack it if I have to move it through my house instead. At 92 pounds I'll leave all the packaging in place to protect it unless it will fit though the window.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
