Great for what it is
I got this tool through a purchasing program at the company I work for and it has amazed me with it's cutting capacity, the battery longevity and overall ease of use. The cut line indicator is spot on in a shop setting. Not so much in full on sun. I use it primarily for cutting dowels, pallet wood with nails and basic 2X framing for garden beds and such. Ease of adjustment for the bevels and miters. Overall a great tool for the standard DIY or small production person.

Great baby saw to the 12" saw!
I have been using the 12" corded double compound Dewalt saw for over 15 years in my remodeling and dreaded lugging that saw in for a small remodel job - I bought this saw about a month ago and used it for a second story bath remodel and could not be happier! It is as solid as it's big brother and makes clean, fast cuts. I really like the LED light that comes on when making the cut as the job site was not very well lit. Not really sure about the dust bag collection as I had the bag upside down but even with that, I had the saw sitting on a sheet on the new tile floor and the sawdust was pretty much contained within a 4' area in front of and around the saw. The miter detents and detent override lock button were spot on and easy to use. The only thing that would make this saw better is if it was a double compound. I would highly recommend this saw!!

Excellent power, versatility, and compactness
For home or on the job site, this saw has great versatility. It’s light enough to haul around yet powerful enough to do the job quietly and efficiently. I wish I got this before spending on a 12” saw I previously owned.

Great non electric portability
Love the portability and convenience of not dragging out long electric cords.
Did not rate 5 star because there is no miter detent over ride. You must push in miter detent with thumb and hold to make minor adjustment of degrees. Thumb gets sore after doing this many times a day and can be difficult to just slightly adjust 90 degree cut

An excellent compound sliding miter saw.
I was skeptical that a battery powered sliding miter saw would have enough power to do the job I wanted, cutting maple, pine, mahogany, without giving up after a few cuts. But, The reviews were very good and I thought, well, how could all those people be wrong.
What a joy this saw is. It doesn't scream, but it cuts very well without complaining. Over and over. Replaced a 15 year old Porter Cable 10 inch. No looking back

Longer, detailed, review from a old school woodworkers own
I won't lie like most I see cordless and start considering other options. I deal in mainly smaller stock, but do anything with custom rare and exoctic island SE Asian hardwoods. So just on default the matterial I work with in some cases revival that of thin stock 440HC SS on a 6-10L"X 2.5"-3.5" blocks to small complete rounds of woods and bark. I got over my fear of batteries via festool and became a renewed woodworker of sorts. With my shop SQ Footage for actually tool use I have little need for a 12" serious slider. But something to knock the ends off of blanks/stoppers or angle out a set of custom scales. Having bought into the festool system already and on-going (does it ever end) and knowing the promises products that are in line for the future it all makes sence to keep things light weight and yeah turn a old time work worker (red oak hickory pine maples walnuts) to take a road less traveled. I still have my stables in my shop however different they are from 10 odd years ago. I knew it was about time to change with the times. Gold cream and green was all I knew (grizz/pm/jet) for my entire woodworking carrier from near highschool on. Now it's a rainbow of colors but today I choose tool that not only preform how I want them too. I use the power of technology for its huge benefits. I'd be one to buy the new 60v 8.5" table saw and gravity type "jobsite" stand - I hate that word these days becuase in my eyes and view the time of jobsite tools are over. Then have caught up with there predecessors and big HP players. This is one of those new stable tools for me. Far from a jobsite anything it replaced and altered my view on SOME dewalt gear. You'll still find corded 20amp-Ed 220v tools running away in my shop but those are just so to person preference of motor/operation at a higher voltage phase 1 tools. With a spare battery in the charging doc or in the wifi radio this little beast was one of the best purchases I have made in 2 years aside from anything out the standard shop theme. The 4ah batteries last what seems forever and even owning a couple 20v Max IR ion 2.5ah compacts it my professional tooling opinion that this is one of the best cordless tools for and from the point of need of any user dyi guy small hobbiest to the true seasoned vet. Do NOT under estimate this saw or the money asked for it. I honestly think the price point is fair when a 3.0ah Max and charger is included and even the 24tpi TK blade is actually work keeping on. By buying urself a $10 zero clearence insert or making one DYI style there's little bottom tear out. I invested in a TK plywood worker 7.25" Forrxxt blade myself and will change out with the dewalt version carbide X-cut 7.25" TK 10 degree rake believe. (10 is what comes in the box stock and ready to roll I do believe. Investing in another on is never a bad thing. Clearing/honing/build up or getting a blade sent out for a sharping (I personally have gotten 3 sharpings from one of their dewalt blades for this saw.) ok sure no Forrest with custom zero clearence inserts (LV&V 4pk deal) - what a sleeper upgrade to this saw and again for nearly $10 and a bit of knowledge you can easy make urself the best battery powered anything you'd ever own. I personally do have several blades for this several clearence inserts several larger batteries and use them gauged to what I'm resawing into production that day or for the time being. "86-Ing" the use of makita tools was hard. Also knowing and liking their higher end battery powered tools for years but it seems like for each release dewalt comes out with something of there own. And I'm excited about getting and using Tht new 60v cell and see how it any if that does benefit the larger usually fixed tools or how it will adjust to its higher mah 20v Max XR ION counter part. If pans out with that move alone to me beats out daul stacking 18v packs (36v's) just on innavation and versitaity alone. If there a question of buying this saw the # of positive reviews don't lie. The only and I do mean one and only down fall is on smaller stock the dewalt built in right hold down clamp gets in the way of the large battery packs and won't allow the smaller stock to get locked down via stock dewalt screw down clamps. But again it's not made for such small pieces and for safty reasons I wouldn't even cut stock that small on this saw if you incounter this same issue. Or just rethink ur clamping system. But for short or long stock. This saw will NOT disappoint the pickest of woodies out there. Trust me on Tht one. It takes one to know one. And I love this little saw worth every penny and some. Blades good to use in replacement: dewalt carbide X cut miter (same Tht comes with saw 7.5/10 IMO good blade) ( freuds 7.5" 60 TPi for small stock or diablos $16 7.5" 24TPI as a back. Up X cut blade, Forrexts 7.5" TK plywood worker pro- UTK carbide blade. 10/10 but costs 1/2 the cost of the saw itself but like sharping stones you always get what u pay for. So with little upgrades and all these job USE depending. It's innavative versatile and has become a stable in the land of my main workshop and my shop on wheels!! A+ dewalt. Keep it up!

Does most of what I'd hoped
Can easily take onto a porch to prepare post base trim, or inside a house to cut baseboard.
The 7-1/4 blade is a bit more limiting than I'd expected, even with the sliding capability; an 8-1/2 blade can do quite a bit more.

Was properly aligned, right out of the box.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
