Excellent Nailer! No more noisy air compressor!!
The DeWalt 20V MAX XR 16 GA Cordless Straight Finish Nailer Kit is an amazing addition to my growing collection of DeWalt tools. This nailer was designed to be very practical and functional. Now instead of having to lug around a bulky, noisy air compressor and several hundred feet of hoses, I just carry this nailer kit in the included storage bag. I take an extra battery and while one is charging, I work with the other. The battery duration on this particular tool is phenomenal. I really like how easy DeWALT has made it to clear jammed nails in the rails by just pressing up on the mechanism and pulling the jammed nail. This nailer is very controllable by the operator as you can set whether one nail comes out per trigger pull or multiple, also allows for setting nails to a particular depth. This machine is very well balanced in the hands especially with the 4 AH battery included in the kit. The battery charges from empty in under an hour on the supplied charger. The carry bag is perfect for storing the tool, battery, charger and boxes of nails to be used with the tool,

Again, DeWALT has created and excellent tool that should provide many great years of service to me, and make for very happy customers. Thanks DeWALT!!!

Complete tool for work, it works very well at an angle, efficient and productive. It has a long battery life. The double led light was a very clever idea. The design if its handle offers a superior and firm balance , really smooth, great ergonomics, safe for the user and reduces fatigue when using for long time.

Really nice features. Really appreciate the firing mode switch. Saves lots of hassle especially when working at height or needing to hang this one piece. No need to get the compressor out, wait for it to charge loudly, run a hose etc etc etc.

Looking forward to replacing all my pneumatic nailers with this style.

Freedom from air hoses
First of all let me say that not having to bring an air compressor and run hoses to every project is wonderful. The ability to just pick up the cordless nailer and start nailing is a plus. I always had to be careful in someones house with the hoses and trip hazard and noise of compressor with air nailers. The lithium ion battery is light in weight and provides a long charge life between charges. Also fits other Dewalt tools too. The weight of tool is not to heavy, just right and is balanced for comfortable use all day. I can use from 1 1/4 inch nails up to 2 1/2 inch straight nails which takes care of all uses that require a finish nail. One gun and just change the lenght of nails as the job requires. Easy to load and unload the nails. Another nice feature is the built in lights which really helps in a tight or dark area to see. The belt hook is strong and slips in my belt or pocket easily so I can free my hands to carry other items and no hoses to carry around..The depth adjustment is easy the use by just turning a knob which I can adjust for each length of nail and type of wood being nailed. On /Off switch is great so I can turn it off while not in use. The battery has a gauge on it showing its charge state by pressing a button. Nice to know how much charge it has before I need to charge it. I use it for sequential nailing mostly but with flip of switch it can be used in a Bump action mode. As for nail jamming it has not jammed and I have been using it every day since I got it a month ago. It comes with a three year limited warranty which I like. Another great feature is the no-marring pad at the tip that helps from marring the nailing surface and extra pads are available attached to gun. A very nice cordless finish nailer. Since I started using this cordless nailer I will never need to go back to the air finish nailers. Great Tool Dewalt.

Great finish gun
Went through a box of nails and didn’t have any problems. No jams. Battery lasts. The lights are very nice. The anti mar pad definitely works. Didn’t damage anything I worked on. Had to do a lot less sanding. Only draw back is the weight. A little heavy for this old guy. Putting on the belt wasn’t that great even with suspenders. So definitely a good shop tool. No jams either. Didn’t get to test out the quick release for removing jams. And the full auto is a nice option.

Only have to get Nailer out!
Got the Cordless Nailer about 3 weeks ago and it is great for the smaller jobs. Used to have to get the compressor, nailer and air hose out now all I need to get our is the nailer and I'm ready to do the 8-10 nails that I need to do for one or two pieces of trim. It does a great job and with the adjustment you can make sure the nail is set to the proper depth for fill and finishing the nail hole.

Dump the compressor and hoses
Dewalt nailed it with this one. Power galore , no kickback at all , beats dragging a hose and having a compressor without doubt . 16 gauge great for trim moldings and anything you would use a finishing nail for. Seems heavy at first but with the power it has, lack of kick back, long battery life , hands down it's better than the air nailer and, the size of the unit is no hindrance at all . Don't hesitate spending the extra to go for it. Downfall if we really think about it is, a hard case would be better at the job than the soft bag it came in .

Dewalt DCN662 16 gauge nailer - No hoses needed
The Dewalt DCN662 is a cordless 16 gauge straight finish nailer made for Dewalt's 20V platform. This nailer supports up to 2-1/2" straight finish nails. The unit is made from the same super tough high strength plastic as the rest of their tool line. It uses an inline magazine where the nails slide in from the end, which works pretty well in my testing. It has a front mounted LED light to help light up the surface you're nailing. The depth adjustment knob is located near the upper front of the unit, and is tool free and easy to rotate. It has a quick jam release mechanism which makes clearing jams effortless, even with one hand. It also has a rafter hook near the battery, which can be moved from the left to right side, or removed completely if needed.

My first test of the nailer was replacing door and window trim in an apartment. In my testing the nailer never jammed once, and had plenty of power to sink 2" finish nails below the surface. I found I had to use the depth adjustment a few times when nailing through harder materials to keep the nails penetrating correctly, the same as you would with a pneumatic. After a couple hours of using the nailer, my battery still had more than %50 power left. I suspect a trim carpenter could go all day on a couple slim pack batteries, or probably a single 6ah battery. About the only downside I can see with this nailer is it's a little heavier than a pneumatic. Although not needing an air compressor or air hose everywhere you go is well worth the extra weight in my opinion. Also, if you need to get into really tight spaces where this straight finish nailer wouldn't work that well, Dewalt also makes an angled 16 gauge nailer, which is part #DCN660.
