DeWalt FlexVolt SDS MAX
The 1-9/16 combo hammer is a beast! Main purpose for purchase was to be able to work remote and not deal with power issues. This is my 3rd Flexvolt tool and even though those work flawlessly, I was a bit skeptical with this purchase. 9ah batteries keep this thing rockin! I no longer have to fight with extension cords, other tradesmen or power outlets.

But that's not all.... The most surprising features are anti-shock and E-clutch. Gone are the days feeling whipped after use or those unexpected binding issues.

Awesome power
I have been using the sds max for 7 months now great for drilling into concrete. I use the chipping function on many projects. My coworker are mad if I don’t have it along with me.

Great for drilling and Light chipping
I bought this as a substitute for my other corded combo hammer, which I mainly used for digging in clay soils. This cordless version just doesn't have the power to dig the way I'd hoped, but, having used it to drill many anchor bolts, I will say that it's drill feature is better than corded! Ditto for light chipping (tile removal where not needing a cord is also a huge benefit!

This sds max roto hammer will not dissapoint. There have been times where it had stuck while drilling into concrete and i was able to get it out no problem despite the lack of having a reverse option. It’s a speedy drill. By the time someone pulls out a cord and moves the stuff by the generator exhaust i am well on my way 15-20 holes into my work. That is a huge benefit! Plus they have to put the cord and stuff away. While using it it doesn’t throw as much or any sand or dirt back at you, most likely due to the brushless design needing less air cooling cfm’a. Also Iir eliminates the risk of running over those expensive $100-150$ cords and breaking them. If you have other flexvolt tools and batteries this one is a no brainer for the concrete contractor or dedicated worker. It drills faster than the Bosch extreme bulldog, might be due to more rpm’s and is just as powerful at about 4.5 ft lbs of impact or 6.1 joules. They will be releasing a 13.3 joule or about 9.8 ft lbs VSR SDS max soon and i cant wait to give that a go. Does well with digging spade bit in soft soil or clay and the chipping bit works great. I use it to drive next to stakes to help me remove them or green concrete that is on the wrong side of the form. My boss was so happy with the tool he bought it from me so the whole team reaps the benefits. Hope this helps!

I have to drill 20 inch deep holes 1 inch wide into solid granite on a island in Georgian bay. I built my cabin drilled 300 holes but used a dewalt electric drill not battery. Will the batteries be sufficient for my use to drill 20 holes or so next summer?

BEST ANSWER: Model DCh481X2 should work to drill 20 holes. You can reach out to a technician at 1-800-433-9258, to make sure the item is the item you need for the job.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
