Awesome First Cuts
Wow... I used it for 10 minutes and cut enough 4 foot length logs to fill the back of my truck. They took me an hour and a half to load into the truck. It went through those trees like butter. The battery still had 2 of the 3 power check LED's when I was done. It used about 3/4's of a full tank of the bar oil but bar oil is cheap... better than pushing a button to feed the oil when you think it needs it. I have a Poulin gas chainsaw and I had an electric for cutting close to home but this one can replace both of those. I just make sure I have an extra battery and a litre of bar oil and I'm good to go for a few hours of straight cutting. Good job DeWalt.

Just as good as a mid-grade gas power saw
While I have only had and used this over the course of a single weekend it blew my expectations away.

I was able to do the same amount of work on a single battery that single tank of gas saw was able to complete but what makes this better though is the no mixing of gas and oil or letting it "warm" up. It was as simple as slapping the battery in and get to work.

I had a tree come down this past winter and it was able to cut and trim branches as thick as 6 inches in diameter without any issues. In all I made 20 to 30 cuts of various sizes and used only 1 battery bar. I then took the saw to my brothers to help with some of his yard clean up and we were able to fell 2 dead trees about 5 inches in diameter, chop them into a bit more manageable pieces. As a true test he wanted to chop up some 11 to 12 inch thick stuff that was already down and sitting over winter and it did it no problem. While I was expecting it to last one full cut on that log since we had done all that other work on the same battery it ended up doing 3 or 4 cuts before the battery died.

To wrap up I did all of the above on one single battery - so nothing short of amazing in my eyes.

One thing to keep in mind is that when the battery is dead it just stops. There is no loss of power or spitting/ sputtering or any indication other than checking the battery pack itself occasionally to know when your running low on juice - it will just stop working.

Cutting up 6x6 arms and pills up to 26 inches thick all day, this last through 4 days of work or approximately 6 poles and 12 arms. More than enough for me.

4 stars for
Overall use
quite controlled power
Durability (it takes a beating
No spark so it's usable in high flame areas
Environmental friendliness-no gas , EPA guys love it

Power without the loud noise
Cuts faster than my old 12" gas Poulan without all that racket, (I did need an ear muff. Cut up an old fallen 30ft. Juniper tree that had about an 8" trunk. Used 1 and a half battery to cut the main trunk and its branches into 10-12" pieces. Now I don't have to struggle getting a chainsaw started. I'm an occasional user, also not having to worrying about gas getting stale which, by the way - deteriorated the seals in the gas tank in my former Poulan.

Good saw
I work on the road all the time and purchased this saw so I would not have to carry gas and oil for my chainsaw. I am a fence contractor and this saw fits the bill perfectly. It will let me trim tree branches, trim boards, cut post, etc. without the hassle of starting a gas saw. The battery last ample amount of time.

Ok, I bought this saw a little over 3 months ago. I was looking for a light trim saw to use in fabrication of large shipping crates (pallets). We were using Stihl chain saws but the noise and monthly maintenance was astronomical in comparison to the Dewalt. With that being said there is the first Plus. It has been currently in use everyday for over 100 days of daily fabrication. So far so good with no repairs and no down time. I am not implying this saw is a Stihl equal but in the application that it is being used for it has proven itself a worthy opponent. Deciding factors where as follows, Low Maintenance, Low Noise, Reliability, Unit Price and Price and availability of replacement parts. In this catagory this saw wins it hands down. First thing one must consider is Just because this saw is quiet and light doesn't mean that it is not powerful. This saw can cut through a 16" log just a fast as a gas saw and trim 1" thick pine deck planking at a speeds of 6-10" of forward speed per second with not fumes, no noise and way less fatigue. There's the other plus. However, Court is Stihl in session on this one, meaning if this saw can remain in operation for one year it will pay for itself twice over just is maintenance savings alone making all other benefits major lagniappe. WOULD FULLY RECOMMEND THIS SAW TO A FRIEND

REMEMBER, Alway keep your chains sharp and your PPE on.
