Beat my expectations
I've had this saw for a year now and I am greatly impressed with it. With the 5 amp hour battery I was able to cut up an entire 30 foot male tree. It has plenty of power for it's size though you must start the chain before touching the wood or it won't go. It does leak a little oil when sitting. Sometimes sticky shavings will get built up and you've got to stop and clean it out. I thought the on/off trigger switch (not a variable speed would be an issue but either I've gotten used to it or it's not a big deal, I don't notice the lack of variable speed.

CPO hires idiots
Never received it. They said My address was undeliverable. It is a commercial address and I receive deliveries daily. I have bought several items from CPO over the years. They were unwilling to try to resolve this

Great tool
owned a couple of chain saws in my life, but I’m the last to tell you I’m any expert. Generally the deal is making sure the engine will start...and continue to run. Pros will just hold the saw in one hand and jerk the cord. Me, on the other hand, have to put the saw on the ground, make sure I’ve flipped all the correct switches and settings and then with one foot on the floor plate, a hand on the throttle and the other hand on the pull rope, I start the process of trying to get the saw (which has only seen a few trees in it’s lifetime to start. If you have old fuel or a bad plug, you have to mess with it more or finally throwing in the towel and taking it to the shop.

Those days are gone...

I bought the DeWalt chain saw knowing it would be a compromise from what I once had and what I had been using (a sawzall) to cut limbs, etc.

I filled the oil reserve on the left side of the saw with bar oil, then put on the battery. From there I went to my first “victim” some branches I needed to cut off a tree. I pressed the trigger release and the trigger, the saw came to life and sliced the 2 inch limb like butter. Next I cut a couple of 30’ pine trees with trunks probably 8-10” in diameter. No problem. I then sectioned the two problem. I then cut some major limbs off a birch problem. Next a couple of small birch trees, about the same size as the problem. After sectioning 4 or 5 trees into logs for burning and cleaning up the smaller branches I moved on to cleaning up a couple of small stumps and a couple of other small trees. Other than binding the chain a couple of times (due to inexperience) I think I cut down a total of 6 trees, sectioned 4 of them and cleaning up a number of other things in the yard...

I did this all on one battery.

The saw really didn’t get slow but I figured it was starting to show some minor was I. I brought the battery in the house to recharge.

If you have to cut down a large tree, you may want to go with something else, but I cut down 6 medium sized trees and basically cleaned up after them with no issue and on one battery charge.

Whoever designed this thing was a genius. I don’t plan to buy another gasoline saw again. You can also bet this thing will be with me on whatever camping or backyard bonfire we have. It will also be one of the things I’ll have with me if we have another ice storm or hurricane.

I was so impressed I also bought the hedge trimmer that runs on the same battery. I’ll let you know how that works out.

Anyway, this is a really good saw. It is well worth considering for any small to medium chore you have for a chainsaw.

purchased it to knock down some 6' to 10' tree branches, and to remove 2 dead standing trees.
So far, I've used it on a 12" branch that split off of our White Pine and hit the house. Saw worked as expected, Cut the pine like butter and charge lasted the complete job. The Dewalt was similar to gas saws I've used in the past and it is nice to not have a hassle with starting it.

I love it.
Awesome!!!! It does everything a gas and oil saw does. Outstanding. I wish I could of got one of these 50 years ago. I haven’t had it long enough to see how the battery lasts. It has run long enough for me to have a lot of limbs and brush to clean up. Lol.

Great saw for trimming brush
I was looking for a light saw to trim branches and brush around my rural property. I have gas saws but they are overpowered, heavy, noisy and can kick back on small stuff. I bought the 12” 20 v dewalt to see if it would be easier and to date I am very satisfied with how it performs. It is strong, cutting limbs 5” plus easily and handles well. Battery life with 3 and 5 AH batteries go over 45 minutes and no tired arms.

Lightweight & Dependable!
After previously owning a few gas chainsaws I was reluctant to purchase a battery unit due to many of my tasks requiring stop and go work. Thanks to current battery technology and DeWalt's brushless motor design, a chainsaw model exist for grab and go demands. Additionally, I wanted something better than maintaining gas powered chainsaws, the bother of mixing fuels and keep a carburetor in top notch ready condition. This unit was able to outwork a comparable gas unit as it is 100% ready to run as fast as the trigger could be pulled! It was able to cut through tree trunks, limbs, and 2x4s with the speed and reliability of gas powered models. With medium landscape jobs, ~2-3 hours, I have yet to run a battery dry. Looking forward to the many years of being able to grab this chainsaw without the concern for cold starts or the fuel prep!

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
