Yes the adapter is hard to remove but..,,,
I love this adapter because I can still use my old set of tools. Sure it’s hard to remove and the big burly man said it takes him 3 minutes to get it off. Well over time it loosens up and isnt so hard to remove. If a girl like me can remove it I’m sure you men can.... js... I love it!

Impossible to remove
I bought this product only because there were no 18-volt replacement batteries available anywhere locally. Was informed by the salesperson at Lowe's that DeWalt would no longer be manufacturing 18-volt replacements and that I would have to buy the 20-volt with the adapter and new charger. The new 20-volt seems to have less power and run time than a comparable new 18-volt. More importantly, the adapter design is flawed. It is virtually impossible to remove from the tool even after removing the battery first. My guess is DeWalt is forcing consumers to purchase an adapter for each tool. Not exactly a customer first policy.

A neat conversion to lithium power
The only Con is that the adapter is somewhat difficult to remove from the drill, where I can then use it on my other Dewalt tools.

Great idea
When I saw this I had to have it. 20 V conversion kit is the way to go, brings new life to my older tools that I didn’t want to buy new batteries for.

Seems overpriced. The 2 - 2 AH/amp hour batteries
Seems overpriced. The 2 - 2 AH/amp hour batteries included are garbage. They do not last long enough to be worth using. If they included decent batteries in the kit, I would buy at least one more.
