Junk Don't buy
The adapter is nearly impossible to get free from the tool. They only way I can get it loose is to push in one clip while pulling that die of the battery out, the while holding that side out, push in on the other clip. The clips are poorly made and sometimes I can't get them to release. The batteries, when new and fresh would not hold a full charge (3 indicator lights When fully charged on the included charger, the indicator showed only 2 lights. The batteries were not "stale." They were stamped as manufactured within 2-6 weeks of purchase. The batteries self discharge rapidly. You would be MUCH better off buying cheap chinee 18V nicad batteries on fleabay. The looked like a good way to get the longer life li-ion batteries for 18V dewalt tools. It is a HUGE disappointment and waste of money. It is over priced, the adapter is poorly made and the batteries are JUNK!

Convert 18 volt tools to 20 volt technology
The system is an economical way to use my existing 18 volt tools, instead of replacing them, with new battery technology. It also is a better way for the battery to connect to the tools.

Extend life of older DeWalt tools
I purchased the 18v-20v adapter about six months ago. Other reviewers have pointed out the adapter is difficult to remove. And, the lithium-ion batteries seem to discharge simply by being left in the adapter. My solution to the discharge issue is to remove the battery when finished using the tool. Despite those issues, the lithium-ion batteries deliver much better performance than the older NiCad batteries. I will be purchasing a second adapter so I have two for my tools.

Dewalt not competent at labeling
Saw this and thought it was a Godsend for my old Cordless 16ga and 18ga Dewalt nailers as well as my trim saw with the old "stem" type batteries. Paid the $150 retail I was so excited to have it. First time I went to use it in my nailers it would not work, Emailed Dewalt and they told me that it would not work with those Basically, "Nothing we can do, sorry". REALLY??!!! COULD YOU HAVE PUT THAT INFO ON THE PACKAGE, DEWALT??? Works ijn the trim saw, which I hardly ever use. So, basically, $150 down the drain, and buying their NiCad batteries aren't even an option for me, they lose power FAST. Dewalt STILL selling OLD TECHNOLOGY in stores.

END RESULT: Moved to Milwaukee tools. Will not touch ANY Dewalt product from now on. Thanks for your "Customer Service." Not!

Don't hold charge and adapter is hard to pull from
I got 2 adapter kits for my tools and it was the worse thing I ever did. Yes the batteries charge fast but do not hold a charge. On a fully charged battery I drilled 8 1/8 holes in a pine board and installed 8 screws and put my drill away. The next day the battery was dead!! I have 4 of the 20v batteries and they all do the same on all my tools. If I charge the batteries and leave them on my bench, they are OK but if put them in a tool and use it for any length of time I know it will be dead the next time I try to use it.Also the adapters are a bear to try to get them out of a tool. Looks like I will be going back to the 18V

Great Addition to my tools
I bought the kit and it works great with my 18v Dewalt. The batteries have a energy gauge that tells you what you have left. The adapter works great and the small 20v batteries are pretty light and last a long time.
