Get it together: a powerful motor, high-speed cutting and excellent overload protection make this saw next to irresistible. Soft start system slowly builds up machine torque, significantly extending gear and motor life. Quik-Change     release enables wrench- and key-free wheel changes. Quik-Fence     blade-angle adjustability takes the guessing and most of the work out of cutting accuracy. Quick-lock vise allows you to prep your materials at record speeds. Extra-wide steel base may be bolted to a bench for added stability. Heavy-duty saw-head pin makes locking down the tool for safe transport a snap. Adjustable spark guard protects workers from sparks and flying debris. Easy-access brushes simplify routine maintenance tasks.

Disappointing for a DEWALT product
I use chop saws for fabricating in my home workshop. I liked the power and CPO's quick shipping but at the end I'm not real happy with the design. The fence and protractor are difficult for me to work with. Once you get your quick square in there to adjust your angle, then try to adjust the position with just the one lever, you just don't seem to have enough hands. Plus the blade and/or power head doesn't seem to be square with the table and/or slots, so you can't rely on the protractor reading. All this would be OK with a cheap saw, but this is a DEWALT!

Great product!
I've used it for 3" aluminum pipe, 1" square tube and 1/2 flat stock with excellent results. Cuts have been square and fairly quick. It throws a lot of sparks behind it but I always have something blocking the back to limit the spread of sparks and grind dust. Other than that, it's perfect.

A great saws to get ur dun!
After a hail storm last summer, we had to rebuild the ends of our main greenhouse. WOW, this saw was major investment and time saver. After comparing prices on the internet, CPO was the best deal. It did the job!!

Indistinguishable from new! Perfect cond
Great for cutting metal studs and rebar. Heavy, but that adds to it's stability. Powerful, too.

Looks new to me!
This is a nice step up from the models with torsion springs. It is very smooth and accurate. I upgraded to a thicker cutting wheel so I could do miter cuts since the thin wheel wouldn't stop sliding off the pipe. The quick change is a nice feature as well. I was also glad that it has a blade lock and handle to carry it convieniently.

Great for the home hobbyist metal worker!
I bought the D28715, because I was needing a chop saw of my own for my own garage/hobby/small project metal work needs. I was getting tired of needing one and having to borrow my dad's all the time. I like the lighter weight of this saw because I have to lug it around my garage and don't have a dedicated cutting table setup for it. That being said, I wish the base unit was made of a little bit thicker gauge steel. The one I got from Lowes, looked like it was dropped and one of the feet was bent. Also, I'm not very please with the design of the work clamp, its place really far back and only allows you to use a fairly small amount the cutting disc before it will stop making full cuts through the work. A 14" cutting disc wears to 11.5", which affords the use of only 1.25" of the cutting radius, then you have to change the disc. This is far less use then I have seen out of other brand chop saws. Which brings me to the next positive point about this chop saw, the Quick-Change disc change system. It's nice to not have to look for a wrench to swap discs. All in all this is a great saw for the catagory of home hobbyist metal worker, but due to the short comings I have experienced with it above, I can only give it 4 stars. One side note though, my D28715 is a "Type 2" revision unit that I purchased around 3-4 years ago if I remember correctly, so I don't know if these issues have been address. But just be aware this could still be a factor in the later "Type" revisions of the D28715 chop saw.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
