Can’t change the blade
Watched video after video on “how to change the blade” on my DeWalt premium utility knife. Can’t change the blade. Looks like it’s a common thread.

Nothing about tis knife works the way it should. The one I have does not even extend the blade. It is therefore impossible for me to 1. use the knife for what I purchased it for, or 2 change a blade using the "easy blade change function". Worse yet, I bought it when I was moving house to open boxes, and in that process lost the receipt, so now Im stuck with it. Don't buy this rubbish!

Wonderful once understood.
Initially I was going to give up with it. Even removing the cardboard package was difficult, I had to take the knife apart to do so. Then I couldn't change blades and so it appeared useless. I was about to return it to the store but I tried again. Suddenly it worked for me. Once I found the correct way to press the blade release tab, I found that I could easily change the blade and have done so many times since. I have found the knife easy to grip when trimming carpets and the easily retractable blade helps with the safety of its use.

Very difficult to change blades. Old blades are prone to becomming jammed in the mechaanism. Why change from the old method?

The worst utility knife ever
Everyone that has had the problem of not being able to change the blade after it got dull because of the faulty blade changing mechanism should consider themselves lucky because at least you got to use it a little bit. The one I bought the blade floats freely in it with nothing to stop it from coming out or going back in. You know how hard it is to cut with a knife that the blade retracts just by looking at it as you tilt it slightly.

Bought the folding, retractable model three days ago at a Decatur, Georgia, Ace Hardware. It looked rugged, compact when folded, & it was American made! But it comes with no instructions. None! I finally discovered where the spare blades are stored. However, I've been unable to lock a blade in place. Ended up using my good Kershaw pocket knife instead. Sorely disappointed!

This is one of the greatest single blade utility knives ever made. Most people, by now, have thrown theirs away in some appalling manner. This knife, if I may call it that, is destined to become one of the greatest collectible knives of all time. I predict, that yours and mine may be the only two in existence right this very minute. Keep it! They're going to be extremely rare. All the rest have probably been destroyed in a fit of rage by now. Rejoice my friend. We have the only two left in the world.
