Much better than previous one. Stronger frame less plastic didn’t like the knife. A pain to remove

Good features, but miter gauge is bad
The features on this saw are good - the rolling guide, large top, board extensions, and controls. However, the miter gauge is very poor and is several degrees off a true right angle when set to 90. The gauge is also flimsy, made of plastic, and wobbles in the slot. Except for that gauge, it's great saw. Buy a after market miter gauge.

I got this saw to do onsite cuts of both plywood and solid lumber. I have been so impressed with all the features and options as well as the ease of use. It comes with everything you need to start working and it all stores somewhere on the saw for easy transport.

The power of this saw is incredible! For such a small tool, ripping solid lumber is a breeze and the fence allows me to cut full size sheets of plywood without much trouble too! Overall, this is an excellent saw and well worth the money!

Finially found it stored on the bottom of the saw in an inconvenient place then I had to unscrew it from the under side of the saw then I had to figure out how it unclips from the mounting bracket. The biggest issue was trying to figure out how the guard was to be installed. It was not clear that the rising knife has to be removed so the guard could be put in its place. Frustrating

Great saw. Easy to set up and easy to use. Best feature is the rail system. Once dialed in it is accurate every time.

Fantastic Saw I can't believe all of the features.
I love that you don't need tools to install the safety equipment

    good saw. some questionable quality
Purchased this saw to do home projects

compact - all the equipment can be stored on the saw in their own compartments.
great over all compact table saw.

miter gauge guide has too much play in the guide.
miter gauge angle tightener loosens during sawing.
lock nut for storing blade guard assembly snapped on first use.
Stand requiring bolting to the saw. Not so portable if you bolt the stand to the saw.

I liked the saw. Cut quality is good. Disappointed in the quality of the components - especially the miter gauge play and the lock nut snapping on first use.

    Excellent Product
My wife and I downsized to a townhouse and i had to give up my two car garage shop and my full size table saw. I did a lot of research before choosing the Dewalt 7490. This saw is everything it is advertised to be and more. Set up was a snap, the manual states that adjustments are made at the factory and should not be needed and they are correct. Blade and fence alignment, everything was right on right out of the box. Plenty of power and runs as smoothly as any big saw. The blade is fully enclosed below the table and with the built in dust port connected to my shop vac the saw is almost dust free. The rack and pinion fence is a breeze to use and is dead accurate. I do a lot of small work involving very narrow rip cuts and the "swing over" auxiliary fence adds another measure of safety and accuracy. I purchased a fine cut finish blade too but the furnished blade cuts so cleanly that I may never need it.
My saw will live at the end of my workbench which serves as an out feed table and I have no need to move it around. The scissors stand furnished with the saw looks sort of puny in the literature and I was sure I would have to build a table just for but it is surprising strong and very stable.
Although i have no need to move it the whole rig is very portable for job site use.
This is the perfect saw for me, Dewalt quality throughout and I would highly recommend this saw to anyone in the market

are there any of your compact table saws that can use a dado blade? if no which of your saws can use a dado blade? thanks bill

BEST ANSWER: Dewalts models DWE7499GD & DWE7480 will accept a dado blade.
what is a dado blade used for ?
    A shopper on Jun 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A dado blade is for cutting wide grooves in the surface of wood. The blades are adjustable for width of cut by 1. stacking multiple blades or blades and spacers or or blades that have an adjustable wobble to them to clear out a wider swath of wood than the blade would do if it did not wobble.
I plan to get the DWE7490X saw primarily as a bench top saw, if I have room for it, what are the overall dimensions,( NOT INCLUDING THE STAND ) height - width - length and weight ? Thanks

    New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
    • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
    • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
    • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
