It was almost a good product.
The fact that you can use 18v and 20v style batteries is fantastic, but that is about all that I can say positive about this radio.
It does not charge either style battery.
The sound is poor.
The radio receiver is weak.
And to top it all off, I have had it less than two years and the volume knob has failed. Spin the knob up and the volume level may increase or decrease it you spin and mess with it long enough. Worthless. Apparently you cant service or replace the knob either. Dewalt is my choice for durable dependable work tools, this radio is neither. Disappointed.

Great Portable Radio
This radio is what it is, its a portable job site radio not a mega boom box. It runs on 12v/18v/20v Dewalt batteries, it will run for days on a 18v battery, what more could you want.
Plays from external source through AUX cable, will charge your USB device. Good FM & AM reception.
If your looking for a rugged, portable, affordable radio then this is the one.
If your looking for Bluetooth, MP3 player, stereo boom box, spend the extra $100 and get the next model up.

Fantastic Radio - How to Fix Volume Knob
I've had this radio for years and it's fantastic. About a year ago, the volume knob started to behave erratically. Sometimes it would turn the volume down while you turned the knob clockwise or vice versa. It got worse and worse and about a month ago it stopped being able to turn the volume down at all. I looked for replacement parts and never found them, so I contacted mouser and here's the part number for the circuit board component that controls the volume:

Hope that helps anyone with the same issue get back to enjoying their otherwise fantastic radio!

Good basic worksite radio
This is a good basic worksite radio. It is compact and will fit into restricted spaces easily. It has good basic sound, but do not expect it to sound as good as larger, more expensive radios. I use 20VMAX batteries with it, and oddly they do not lock in place, which is a minor disappointment. The battery stays in place pretty well, but I would have preferred that it lock in place. I have only had the radio briefly, but It looks solid and I expect good service from it.

Pros & Cons
(pros)- compact and easy to travel, and can use 18 and 20 V batteries. Decent price.
(Cons)- Terrible sound quality. Muffled sound and no EQ, The farther you get from it the harder it is to make out lyrics. Does not charge batteries, but looks like it would or should. No bluetooth capability and no power outlet like other dewalt radios. Also cant charge your Iphone 7 or higher while plugged into the headphone jack even if plugged into a power outlet.

Compact and Durable
Good sound and loudness for the size. I use it the garage, outdoors and with battery packs while camping. Perfect for portible use. 12V max do not last long and it's too bad it doesn't also charge the battery packs.

Great sound and durability!
Just bought it today. It was very easy and intuitive to set up and use straight out of the box. Love its durability, so when we bring it into the yard, we won't worry if it gets knocked over. The sound is excellent and we love having the time display as well.

Decent jobsite radio
This radio is okay for a jobsite radio. The antenna seems cheap, and it doesn’t fit my iPhone X while it’s plugged in to the auxiliary port. Sound quality is decent considering there is only one speaker. Overall, if you’re on a budget this is good, but I would get the bigger radio with two speakers, battery charger, and Bluetooth connect for the extra hundred dollars.

Very good radio
I bought this for a home shop as it is rugged. Fringe area FM reception is above average and AM is as well. Audio is great for a smaller radio and volume adequate for a two car garage shop space. Manual is not clear that the Dewalt battery pack is not charged when the radio is plugged in, as I found out. Now need to get an external charger. Because of this I give the product a 4 insted of a 5.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
