This impact is awesome. It has all the power of my top of the line air impact. It is a little heavy but way less strenuous than hand tools.I recently used it to remove 8 lug tires and remove a pitman arm with no trouble....A real test to the power. The battery life is far better than expected.A must have.

I will tell you I have always been a Dewalt guy. Have many dewalt cordless/corded tools but am very displeased with this impact. I was excited about the high torque and brushless design but it fell short. I have had this tool for about 6 months and already its making that rough squealing noise from the motor. I have had that same thing from the Dewalt 12 volt impacts very soon. I haven't had it from the 18 volt or the 20 volt 1/4" hex, just these 2. For the high torque, I mainly use it for Victaulic style grooved couplings which the bolts don't require alot of torque. I have also used it for mechanical joint fittings on ductile iron pipe, again dont require a huge amount of torque just keep going over them to compress the gasket. I just don't understand why this tool failed so quickly. For the 12 volt, mainly use for #8 or #10 sheetmetal screws, and 5/16" clamps on no hub bands. The bands torque at 60" pounds. I think Dewalt needs to go back to the drawing bord on these two tools.

Hi, Can you tell me if the tool I will receive is the made (assembled) in the USA model? I know they have made them in China in the past but I think the 2016/2017 models are made in the USA. thank you!
Chris p on Feb 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This model is not assembled in the USA.
what is the difference from this model DCF899HB and model DCF899B? I also have the 20v max XR battery but its a 2ah would that battery work with this drill or does it need the 4ah battery? Thank you
Jerry on May 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The DCF899HB is a Friction ring chuck and the DCF899B is a Detent Pin.Any one of the 20 volt Lithium batteries are compatible.
What are the pros/cons of the "hog ring"", "detent pin" and "friction ring"anvils ? Don't want to buy something i wont like.
Paul K on May 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Pin, locks the socket on and you usually need to use a tool(small screwdriver etc.) to release the socket.

Hog ring is just a friction fit so it allows to you to remove sockets without a tool, but the socket could slip off.

If you will be changing sockets a lot, you probably want the hog ring.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
