Fits snug , better alternative than spending money on new 20 volt tools.
It's a little tight going in , but once it's locked it won't fall out easy. I have a lot of 18 volt tools yet that has years of life left , can't justify spending the money, besides , time I wear out the 18 volt tools DeWalt will change it up again and have to have something newer.

18v to 20V upgrade
I bought the upgrade kit with adaptor over three months ago. I charged the lithium batteries. Now I finally go to use it and it doesn’t work, a couple times I got power to my drill but intermittent,as if the connection is weak. What a headache. So now it’s back Dewalt to try and understand why the issue!!
I’m very disappointed with the product.

This fits on all of my old 18V XRP tools just fine. I have the hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw, grinder, reciprocating saw, 1/2" impact, and flex light and it works great in all of them. My 90 degree drill won't accept the adapter but I do not think it was ever in an XRP offering and is my only Dewalt cordless tool that is not XRP. The adapter is a little difficult to remove in some tools and is almost impossible to remove if you leave the battery in so it is best to remove the battery first. I just started replacing all of my XRP tools so I only plan on using this while I do that over the next year or so. I am using the DCB205 batteries and the run time seems like about 4 of my old batteries combined, maybe more. It looks odd on the tools and sits at an odd angle but works well so far. None of the larger batteries (6.0ah plus) fit the adapter but the run time is long enough with the DCB205 where having a spare battery would run a tool for a full work day anyway. I noticed a significant improvement in power even over my newer XRP batteries in all of my tools and have not seen any drawbacks besides making the tool overall length longer which makes fitting in tight areas a bit more difficult.

This is a wonderful addition to my tool bin. Now I don't have to have so many chargers sitting around. Really like it.

Bulky, but what else can you do?
We have many older 18V tools that still work great, we also have most of the newer 20v tools, but the 18v batteries are dying on us. I cannot bring myself to spend the same money for a 18v as a 20v. So we have begun to buy these to use our 20v batteries on our old tools. I wanted to give this a 3 star simply because it is large and cumbersome, but I really dont think that would be very fair? I simply don't see how this would be made much smaller to adapt both batteries. It appear the adapter must have the latch and the meat of the plastic for the terminals to connect and doubt the size could be significantly reduced. So it gets a 4 star. Why a 4 star and not a 5? It simply makes the angle to the battery weird and hangs down a bit from typical. They work great and we are still using all of our old tools until they die. The older tools seem to be a bit more powerful and operate great. I don't know how this might affect our tool longevity but will leave that to Dewalt? They claim they are fine with this?

Great product
I have only had a chance to use it one time so far so good. I love the LI batteries as opposed to the 18v so if it lasts probably will buy more 20v li batteries
